I made a goddess in felt some time ago, learning how to needle felt and come up with designs. She’s sat happily on a shelf since then. When I decide I’d be a witch for Halloween, I added a little bit of tech to her so the children who came to an event I organised would be able to see a message from her!
Using NFC technology, I programmed a button size disc that I then felted just under her cloak. When a phone that has NFC turned on is held near, it reads the disc and does what it says! In this case a short message and a geolocation link.
